What we can bring
BBAA supports nighttime telescope observing, safe solar observing, astronomy presentations, schools, libraries, youth organizations, festivals, community events and other astronomy-centered programs across Hampton Roads and nearby communities.
Planning a successful astronomy event
A useful observing site needs enough open sky for the intended targets, safe pedestrian access around telescopes, and control of nearby white lights. For large events, plan enough space that visitors can form lines without surrounding tripods.
Weather can limit telescope observing. Programs with an indoor presentation or activity have a useful fallback when clouds win.
